MARTHS ASSIGNMENT ON HCF AND LCM

Rule 1

 

To find the greatest number that will exactly divide x, y and z

 

Required number  =  HCF of x, y and z

Rule 2

 

To find the greatest number that will exactly divide x, y and z leaving remainders a, b and c respectively.

 

Required number  =  HCF of (x – a), (y – b) and (z – c)

Rule 3

 

To find the least number that which is exactly divisible by x, y and z

 

Required number  =  LCM of x, y and z

SOME PROBLEMS

  1. Find the HCF of 144, 180 and 192.
  2. Find the HCF of 624, 936 and 264.
  3. Find the greatest measure which is exactly contained in 10 litres 857 milliliters and 15 litres 86 millilitres.
  4. Find the greatest length which can be contained exactly in 10 m 5 dm 2 cm 4 mm and 12 m 7 dm 5 cm 2 mm.
  5. Find the HCF of 18.4, 23 and 27.6.
